Requiem Of Lost Souls

THE RUMOR OF REAL THINGS - SS24

After human-made atrocities left the world fragmented, it became scarred by wastelands, abandoned areas, and nuclear radiation. Minilla embodies the suppressed rage brewing beneath the surface - a manifestation of nature’s fury provoked by humanity’s disregard. As humans lost touch with nature, Minilla(Son of Godzilla) symbolizes the pent-up emotions of the natural world, reflecting the consequences of our insensitivity.

This look is assembled using the “dragon sleeve” pattern purchased from EWST fashion lab. With the fabric texture, I used a 100% polyester fabric and manipulated the texture with a heat gun

1947 was a year of recovery for most of the world after the wreckage of WWII. While the world was starting its return to peacetime and heal, this did not ring true for all. This look resides within the contrast between the booming economy and prosperity of America to the war-ridden state of Taiwan. A cropped blazer and trouser is a modern interpretation of the fashion in America from the 50s; the gathered hole a reference to the 228 Massacre that occurred in Taiwan due to the rebellion against the dictatorship of China.

This look is crafted from 100% olive green twill cotton, featuring a jacket designed with a sculptural gathered shoulder, reinforced with embedded shoulder pads for added structure. The design incorporates the innovative “gathered hole” technique, inspired by Pattern Magic, showcasing my exploration of avant-garde construction and dimensional form.

Bespoke Suit - TPA 4905

Advanced Tailoring Techniques

This garment was developed during my tailoring course within the FSU School of Theatre’s MFA Costume Design program. Through this course, I gained hands-on experience in constructing a bespoke suit using a commercial pattern, refining the fit through multiple fittings after completing the torso, sleeves, and collar. I also learned and practiced essential hand-stitching techniques, including pad stitching, tailor basting, pick stitching, and double cross stitching. This experience provided me with a comprehensive understanding of the intricate craftsmanship involved in bespoke tailoring, from precise construction to the finer details of pocket-making.
